It feels so cathartic to finally be able to
write about love
when I know you aren’t reading
ever since I’ve been eating cold rice
hot ones sizzle in my strawberry mouth
yet warm is too saucy to suck
that I get reminded
If you really wanted me to cook that day
you might as well have left cardamom
on the counter, besides the salt we share
my part spices are enough for noodles
that sustain me each night now
after, I walk on salty tiles to digest
are you still picking up salt with your eyes?
I’m curious as to what your “source sentence”/original title was and what it’s from. I’m just getting to yesterday’s prompt myself, after going ahead with today’s prompt. Thanks.

I started out with the clause “if you
have this love for what is humble” from Rilke’s Letters to a Young Poet. Good luck!
